Barbara, as your incumbent Town Treasurer, has 3 key priorities for Old Saybrook’s finances: transparency, fiscal responsibility, and long-term planning. In her own words:
“I have been working on these priorities since I was first elected four years ago. To make our financial reports clearer and more accessible, so residents and taxpayers can easily understand where every dollar goes. I will safeguard our town funds and ensure that our investments are managed wisely. I will also keep an eye on the future, so our town remains secure and prosperous. Most importantly, I will continue investing our money to preserve the record returns we have been booking in income and interest to help keep our taxes low.”

Barbara is running for a third term as Old Saybrook’s Treasurer. She has an excellent understanding of, and an extensive background in, municipal government, having served 13 years as Wallingford’s Town Clerk and Clerk of the Council for 13 years. Barbara also served as President of the New Haven County Town Clerk’s association for 6 years. She is a former Registrar of Voters, and Barbara also served as the Chairman of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission for seven years.
Barbara is dedicated to public service in her community. Barbara and her husband, Jerry, moved to Old Saybrook eight years ago and wonder
why they waited so long! They love our beautiful shoreline, our restaurants and the great people they meet every day. In her third term as Treasurer, Barbara’s focus will not waiver; to invest responsibly in the highest and safest returns possible for the townspeople of Old Saybrook!
Barbara takes her duties as Treasurer very seriously, keeping up with the markets daily. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her six grandchildren, power walking, reading, as a member of the Knollwood Book Club that she formed, and traveling. Barbara looks forward to a continued partnership with Carl Fortuna and Scott Giegerich to ensure the town’s finances remain in a positive stable environment!
