Carl Von Dassel

Police commission

Carl is a current Old Saybrook Police Commissioner and is running for re-election.  His ability to work through issues and seek creative solutions has brought a sense of reason to a sometimes-tumultuous board.

Carl grew up in Old Saybrook and is the well-known and well-respected owner of Tri-State Glass Co LLC.  As such, he and his family have had front row seats to the growth and change the town has experienced over the years.  He’s quick to say how much he appreciates the people he meets every day!

In addition to his work on the Police Commission, Carl is a past member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, past volunteer for Safe Grad Night, OSW Touchdown Club and other school sports and school plays.  He is Treasurer and past President of the CT Glass Dealers Association since 1992 and a member of the CT Department of Consumer Protection Automotive and Flat Glass Licensing Board since 2000.

Carl’s goal for the Commission is genuine and candid:  to continue to have a department of Police Services that meets or exceeds all expectations of our residents and visitors to our town in a cost-effective manner.

In his spare time, Carl enjoys golf, woodworking, playing the drums and spending time in his recently completed music room.
