Jim Wakim lives in Knollwood Beach with his wife, Donna. 

Jim retired in January 2025, having graduated from UCONN with a BA Summa Cum Laude in 1979 and JD With Honors in 1982.

 
Jim spent the first 13 years of his career as a commercial real estate attorney with Schatz Schatz Ribicoff & Kotkin, followed by years as a partner in the Capital Markets Group of the national law firm, Brown Rudnick. 

In addition, Jim spent an aggregate of 25 years as counsel with the Konover organizations in various capacities, a national real estate owner / developer. Most recently, since 2008, Jim had served as President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel to The Simon Konover Company headquartered in West Hartford CT. Jim served as Connecticut State Director for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for  six (6) years, and has held numerous board  positions with the Real Estate Committee of the CT Bar Association.  Jim holds a CT real estate broker license and CT Common Area Manager license.  Jim spent six (6) years as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford and currently sits on the Executive Board for Knollwood Beach Association.  

 

Jim served most recently on the Board of Assessment Tax Appeals in the Town of Old Saybrook this year, and is looking to do so prospectively.  

Jim and Donna treasure living in Old Saybrook, and Jim is looking for a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community by applying nearly 45 years of diverse legal and business experience and judgment gathered along his professional journey. We are challenged daily as individuals, as families, and as a community, and he offers an educated, experienced legal and business perspective focused on maintaining, and enhancing, our amazing way of life here in Old Saybrook.  

 

Jim and Donna enjoy boating and all the shoreline has to offer, and love their English black lab, Evvy; golden retriever, Gracie; and Maine Coon, Cammy.  Jim and Donna's daughter, Giulia Thompson and her husband Greg, live in West Hartford with their golden retriever, Finnley, and treasure their time visiting in Old Saybrook!
