Zoning Board of Appeals,
Police Commission

I have been a resident of Old Saybrook for the past 33 years.  I moved here, like many residents in town, to raise my family.  As a degreed engineer, I have been trained to work the problem and solve it. That is what I will bring to the table if I am re-elected to the Zoning Board of Appeals.  If you were to ask those in town that know me, you would hear that I am “unafraid to roll up my sleeves and work the problem”.

I received a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, graduating with Honors, and I am a member of both the Engineering and the Industrial Engineering Honor Societies.  I am currently the Vice President of Providence Metallizing, Inc in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  Throughout my career, I have held various volunteer positions within the American Electroplaters & Surface Finishers Society, Vice President, President, and Board of Managers.

I also held the position of Vice President of the RI Council of Electroplaters and Vice President of the Fenwood Tax District and now currently serving as the Treasurer..   In addition, I was a Soccer Coach for 10 years with the Old Saybrook Park and Recreation and an Assistant Coach for 5 years with the Old Saybrook Soccer Club. I am currently serving on the Zoning Board Of Appeals as the Chairman for the past 3-12/2 years and as a alternate prior to that for 4  years.

I possess a solid foundation of first-hand administrative-operational management and regulatory compliance expertise.  I am a dynamic and proven business professional with a demonstrated track record of performance and success as a hands-on executive manager.  I have successfully led organizations through cultural change, engaging multiple levels of management with a strong sense of the many dynamics of organizational behavior.

I am a strong advocate on giving back to our community.  I believe that my skill sets would align with the mission of our Zoning Board of Appeals. My knowledge gained as Chair over the past years is  invaluable as I peruse a seated position on Old Saybrooks Zoning Board Of Appeals.

Hello, my name is Charles Gadon, and I’ve proudly called Old Saybrook home for the past 33 years. I’m running for a seat on the Old Saybrook Police Commission because I believe it’s time for a new, transparent, and accountable approach to how our Police Department operates—especially as we transition leadership following the departure of our Chief of Police.

Our department faces serious challenges in budget oversight, staffing, and operational performance. We need strong, experienced leadership on the Commission to guide this next chapter—and I’m ready to provide it.

Professionally, I serve as Vice President of Providence Metallizing in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, bringing over 40 years of executive leadership experience. I've successfully led organizations through complex operational and financial transitions. That same hands-on, results-driven mindset has guided my service on the Old Saybrook Zoning Board of Appeals for the past seven years – three of which as chairman.

Beyond my career, I’ve always made time to serve—both locally and within my industry. I’ve held leadership roles with:

  • American Electroplaters & Surface Finishers Society (President, Vice President, Board Member)

  • Rhode Island Council of Electroplaters (Vice President)

  • Fenwood Tax District (currently Treasurer, formerly Vice President)

I also spent over a decade supporting our youth as a Head Coach for Old Saybrook Youth Soccer and Assistant Coach with the Old Saybrook Soccer Club.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, graduating with Honors, and am a proud member of both the Engineering Honor Society and Industrial Engineering Honor Society.

Old Saybrook deserves a Police Commission that listens, leads, and takes action. I will bring professional discipline, operational insight, and a deep commitment to transparency and accountability. I’m running because I care deeply about this town—and I believe we can do better.

I respectfully ask for your vote. Let’s move Old Saybrook forward—together.
