Rick Swan
Board of finance
Rick is an experienced Board of Finance (BOF) member, having served on the Board for the last four years. His 'day job' is working as an Assistant Director at the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection agency.
Rick was born and raised in Old Saybrook, which gives him a lot of historical town knowledge, and a love for the town, in addition to his extensive Board of Finance experience. He's not afraid to ask the hard questions, and keep open lines of communication with taxpayers. His driving force is always to ask: “What’s right for Old Saybrook? What makes sense? What would the town’s people want done with their tax dollars? Just because we can afford it, doesn’t always mean we need it.”
Beside his work on the BOF, he is a past member of the Old Saybrook Fire Dept (Firefighter up to Deputy Chief), Old Saybrook Ambulance (attendant to member of Board of Directors) and a current member of the Valley Shore Mutual Aid Association.
His goal for the BOF is to continue to scrutinize every expense item, and continue to work as a team to improve the lives of our residents at a reasonable cost to all. Next time you see Rick, feel free to share your thoughts and a cup of coffee (we hear he's a big fan)!!
